Connie Hopkins, LCSW

I am a graduate from Radford University earning a Bachelors Degree with a focus on social work.  After completing my degree, I went to work at a local Department of Social Services and remained there until I was given an opportunity to explore other options in the Social Work field. I received a Masters of Social Work from Radford in 2014 and began working toward being a LCSW. I received my LCSW in 2018 and have been working in outpatient therapy since. My experience includes being a service worker for DSS, mental health support services, school-based counseling, in-home counseling, and now, outpatient therapy. I have experience with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, ADD/ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, anger management, parenting issues, personality disorders, trauma and grief. I work from a strength-based perspective with a client-centered style.

I live in Giles County with my husband of twenty years, my sons, and four dogs. I have worked with many adults, children, adolescents, and families throughout the New River Valley over my twenty years in the social work field. My current focus is on adolescents, adults, and the aging population. My primary approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-based therapies. I am a generalist practitioner, which mean I have not chosen a speciality, so I am eclectic in my approach to therapy. I see my clients as individuals with individual experiences. We will work together to find an approach that serves your needs. I have a special interest in mindfulness and how it can be used in many situations and with many diagnoses. I love and have experience in helping people achieve their therapeutic goals and live a healthier, fulfilling life.
